Donkey's!
After an epic journey both of us made it to the greek islands. Me: bus, train, plane, bus, hotel, taxi, plane, bus. Jessica: 3 trains, ferry, train, bus, train, hotel (from scene out of psycho... with no hot water ) ferry, crazy cab man. And a donkey ride! Was it worth it? In a word, yes! Santorini was beautiful. We went quad biking, spent way too much money on clothes, took a donkey ride, went on a boat ride to a volcano, and then dove straight off the boat and went swimming in hot springs! We are now in athens on our yay to ancient delphi and meteora. Love to everyone xoxo

Off to Greece tomorrow!
Hello everyone!!
Ive finally had a chance to access some decent internet so I have a few photos. There are some places that are missing because Jessica takes most of the photos with her camera, which does a much better job than my little mobile phone camera. I also haven’t tried to narrate the photos because it is very time consuming and blogger doesn’t seem to like me!
The new face you notice in some snaps is Lauren. Jessica met Lauren in Spain and we bumped into her in the street in Cinque Terre. We ended up meeting up with her again in Rome, she travelled with us to Sorrento, and then came back to Rome with me.
I am feeling a little lost at the moment as all of 3 of us have gone our separate ways for now. Lauren left Rome this afternoon for Florence and then the UK. Jessica left yesterday for Greece via the ferry. I am meeting her Tuesday morning on the Greek Island of Santorini.
What else can I say. I am having an amazing, overwhelming, undescriable time!! Sometimes it feels like I live a week in each day. You have huge highs and lows in the space of a few short hours… I adore Italy and Im looking forward to our 10 days in Greece but I will be very happy to be back home at the end.
After Florence, Pisa and Lucca we spent 2 nights in Cinque Terre where it was warm enough to go swimming! We then took 5 trains and 2 buses to visit San Gimiano and Sienna in Tuscany which were both beautiful but what an exhausting, character building day! We then arrived in Roma, which I have been dreaming of since I studied Ancient Rome in grade 12. It is such an amazing city, you would need week to explore everything. We visited the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, the Roman Forum, the Trevi fountain (our favourite hang out, and where we discovered the worlds best gelato), the Pantheon, the Vatican and the Spanish steps, PHEW!
We then went to Sorrento for 2 nights via Pompeii, visiting the Amalfi Coast on 1 day which was spectacular. Think the Great Ocean Road on steroids!
Then I headed back to Rome for 2 nights. I had Lauren with me last night but tonight I am all on my lonesome! Im planning on catching up on my blog and my postcards then I am taking myself out to dinner.
Tomorrow I am off to Santorini via Athens.
Lots of love to everyone back home
xoxo

Arrived in Cinque Terre
Hi everyone!
We arrived in Cinque Terre this afternoon. Its absolutley beautiful here and it looks like we might have sunshine tomorrow. I am hoping to go snorkeling and kayaking and Jessica is trying to find out about a dive.
We saw the leaning tower yesterday and took our cheesy tourist photos. Then we spent the night in Lucca. We took a bike ride around the wall of the city which was just awesome, possible the best part of the trip so far!
Am hoping to post some photos up in Rome when we have better internet access.
Also we arent able to answer calls here as we are outside of my network, but should be back in range by Sunday afternoon.
Love to everyone

Fair Verona
We visited Verona yesterday, fabled home of Romeo & Juliet. Shakespeare was said to have based the two families in the story on two rival families in Verona.
We are staying in a nice B&B with a shower, towels and our own room. LUXURY!!!
I should also add that it is a lot of fun trying to speak Italian :) We spent 30 minutes in the post office yesterday sending a parcel home and buying stamps! We have been very lucky so far, we always start by asking if they speak English (in Italian) to which the reply "a little" and then go on to speak perfect English!
Verona is very pretty:

We are off to Florence this morning for 2 nights.
Ciao!

Venice Day 2
We started our day in Venice in style with a gondola ride and then visited the Piazza San Marco which we were suprised to find is cover in ankle deep water most of the day! They use platforms above the water to allow the tourists to travel from one end to the other, and police to direct the traffic!
We had a bit of drama when we came across a man who had suffered a heart attack. He regained conciousness just after we saw him and Jessica helped him into the recovery position and helped until the water ambulance came. Hopefully he was ok, Jessica is certainly keeps her cool under pressure!
We spent most of our day just wandering and exploring as many nooks and crannys of venice as we could. We also went on the water bus down the grand canal and finished our day off with more Gelato.
My very first look at Venice from the glass bridge:

We spent today in Verona and we are off to Florence tomorrow so stay tuned :)

Venice!
I arrived safely in Venice, very tired (think 3 hours sleep in 48 hours) but very excited.
Venice looks exactly like what you would expect, its just amazing!!! Gondolas everywhere, beautiful old churches, little buildings with flower boxes at their windows, and washing strung out the window. I walked around for about 3 hours after I arrived just soaking it up. I accidently found whats supposed to be the best gelati place in venice, and it was yummy!!
The hostel we are staying at is an old palace, complete with huge high cellings, crumbling plaster, and no hot water... But we met some really nice people last night and we get free breakfast and dinner so whos complaining!
I will try and post some photos soon, we are going to have a full day of exploring today.
